SENSE PhD symposium: Water and energy cycles at multiple scales (1 March 2012)

Over the last decades, progress has been made in understanding processes within the Earth system. For example, knowledge has been gained about measuring and modelling rainfall-runoff processes as well as quantifying boundary layer dynamics. Still, many questions remain and research continues to focus on water and energy cycles at multiple scales.

In the fourth yearly WIMEK - SENSE PhD symposium, we aim to gain and exchange knowledge of research that has been carried out by PhD-students and researchers from a wide range of environmental science disciplines. Read programme.

There will be about 10 oral presentations and a poster session. Two of the presentations will be given by invited key speakers who will discuss recent achievements and future challenges in the field of water and energy cycles.

  • Prof. dr. Marc Bierkens from Utrecht University will talk about hydrological cycles at different spatial scales
  • Dr. Don Lenschow from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR, Boulder, USA) will address the question: How well can we measure fluxes in the planetary boundary layer?

Date/time: Thursday, 1 March, 09.00-17.00, with drinks afterwards
Venue: Wageningen UR, Atlas building (Rooms 1+2+3, first floor)
